The best way to sync your Google calendar with Outlook

A quick and easy way to help keep your life in order

As is probably the case for a large number of people, I have been using Google as my main email and calendar services provider for quite some time.

And although my uni’s official provider was Microsoft, I had managed to get away with not using the outlook calendar at all and continue to coordinate my everyday life using my (then only) other calendar.

However, when I started my job — where absolutely everything is coordinated through either MS outlook or teams — I had to start looking for ways of putting some order across my two main email accounts, but more importantly, my two calendars.

The prospect of migrating everything from one to the other seemed like too much work, so I decided to opt for the more amenable alternative of simply syncing the two calendars.

As you might expect, I started with the built-in ‘Calendar subscription’ features existing in both Google and Outlook calendars.

But it quickly became evident that this solution is far from ideal, as the syncing process across the two different services is way too slow and clumsy for being even remotely useful in practice.
